HISTORY
In the fall of 2020, three members went on a ride to the Big Bend area in west Texas. It was then proposed to form a riding club. Those members were Mike Garrett, Mike Powell and Kelly Daniels.
The 515 Riders motorcycle club was formed in 2021 by a group of riders who are current federal employees and contractors. We enjoy riding the roads less traveled and the fellowship. The club's inaugural ride was to Nancy's Steak House in Columbus, Texas. Those in attendance on that first ride were Mike Garrett, Vic Midyett, John Lynch and Mike Powell.
The Harry Stafford Full Moon Ride
Four stalwart riders made it to the Full Moon Ride in Alvin. This ride is the longest continuous ride documented in Texas. It was started by the beloved Chaplain of the Blue Knights LEMC, Brother Harry Stafford, who is the minister of the Road To Life Ministries in Alvin, Texas. The four of us met at the Kelley's restaurant in Alvin before the ride because old people eat earlier than later.
After dinner we joined the others at the Liberty Bank at Hwy. 35 and Hwy. 6. About 15 riders attended on all makes and models of motorcycles. A couple of riders acted as safety riders for the group which held intersections for us making the trip through the Texas coast enjoyable and streamlined. I was amazed at all of the back-water marinas we saw as we traversed the Liverpool, Oyster Creek, Brazoria Wildlife Refuge areas. There were a lot of twisties and as the sun faded the weather cooled down. As we left for home we saw a beautiful orange ball settling down on the horizon creating a hue of colors in the high thin clouds that an artist would love to paint. We looked on this as our reward from above for a great ride.
